12 years later: developing Mitchells & Butlers' new website
Mitchells and Butlers had progressed as a brand and felt that their website no longer reflected the business they’d become, and we agreed.
Brief
Our challenge was to create a new corporate website for Mitchells & Butlers that reflects their current organisation, targeting their core audiences (investors, shareholders, staff, and customers) and helping them achieve their goals as a business.
Approach
"Following a collaborative workshop to agree on audiences, goals, design, and content, we built a prototype for approval by the Mitchells and Butlers team.
Then, our expert team jumped into action with an updated tone of voice guide, pathfinder copy (designed to get approval before writing the entire website), a robust SEO strategy, and complete website content. Our content team is SEO-trained to create copy that brings the right people to the new website before they are blown away by its contemporary style and efficient user journey."
Solution
We upgraded the old website to a brand-new CMS and Gatsby setup, famous in web development for creating fast, secure, and powerful websites. It also uses a ‘React-based framework’, which makes integrating third-party features and applications a breeze. For Mitchells & Butlers, this included a ‘Find a pub’ integration, corporate ‘Share price’ integration, a new information centre for financial updates, and enhanced cookie features to comply with rules around tracking. We also created a handy user manual so the client could manage their new website content without our help!
We worked with Brew to deliver a pragmatic and cost-effective solution to updating our dated corporate website. After overcoming a number of challenges, the result is a significantly improved design, with much improved useability and a consistent look and feel with our other corporate touchpoints that has garnered positive feedback throughout the business.
